4 Hal's Story Harold "Hal" Eisenberg was a man who inspired many and who continues to inspire our work today. The Foundation was formed 20 years ago in an outpouring of love to honor his memory by fighting the cancers that took his life and by continuing his legacy as a mentor, leader, and educator. Hal's devotion to his family and his work was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. He was known for the zest and vitality he brought to his relationships and to his vision to create community gathering places. He is remembered for his integrity and his ability to listen, understand, and share. He was a loving husband, a dedicated father to his three children, a mentor, and a teacher. In early 1999, Hal passed away suddenly from liver and pancreatic cancers. Almost immediately after his death, his friends and family established the Foundation in his name so that other families do not have to endure the loss of a loved one to GI cancers. In addition to fighting cancer, Hal's friends and family were also dedicated to carrying out his values. A leader in the world of real estate, he believed in sharing his knowledge and experience to enrich and empower students. His legacy as an educational leader lives on through the Foundation's real estate education programs. The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation remains committed to celebrating the spirit of a man whose love of people and passion for learning inspired those around him. Who We Are Getting to Know the Harold E.
