6 Dear Friends, It is hard for us to imagine that it has been nearly 20 years since Harold's close friends and colleagues banded together to begin this foundation shortly after he died suddenly at the age of 53 from an aggressive form of liver cancer. In the years since, so many of you have helped to build this foundation into an enduring organization dedicated to real estate education and gastrointestinal cancer research. These efforts are led by our extraordinary Executive Director, Katie Hurley Wales, and the Foundation's professional staff including, Lisa Brzezicki, and Mindy Dapin. They support a dedicated Board of Directors, Associate Board, and Junior Board. Nothing highlights the passage of time quite like the recent emergence of the Junior Board. Initiated by Harold's grandchildren, there is now a group of 75 young people, ranging in age from 6 to 18, who are organizing events, spreading awareness, and raising thousands of dollars. These young people, like many of those now associated with the foundation, never had the opportunity to meet Harold. He was an optimist. And they have come to embody one of Harold's core beliefs – an overriding sense of possibility and the conviction that if the world does not look as you think it should, you have the ability to reshape it. Finally, the foundation's longevity is a testament to the real estate community. Hundreds of volunteers have supported over a thousand days of real estate mentorship, hundreds of speaking engagements, and over a dozen real estate courses and career days. We have been overwhelmed by the support of this real estate community each of the past 20 years. Thank you for helping us to continue touching students' lives and raising funds for the battle against gastrointestinal cancers, a fight we will continue until there is a cure. We remain deeply grateful to you all. The Eisenberg Family A Word from the Eisenberg Family Who We Are Getting to Know the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation
