4 Welcome to the The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation 16 th Annual Dinner Dear Friends, We are really excited to be here with you this evening. The retail real estate industry and educating its next generation was one of Hal's core passions in life. Liver cancer is the disease to which he lost his life very shortly after being diagnosed in 1999. Your support over the past 16 year has been tremendous. Tonight's event will raise several hundred thousand dollars for Gastrointestinal Cancer Research and Real Estate Education. You and your companies are incredibly generous contributors and also passionate volunteers – as mentors, lecturers, and speakers. With your assistance, we have awarded almost 50 scholarships to the University of Illinois, ICSC's school for professional development, Roosevelt University and Marquette University. With your support, we have built one of the most comprehensive real estate education programs in the country which has provided students with 1000+ days of mentorship, developed an annual real estate competition, organized eight annual Career Day events for hundreds of students, and offered accredited university real estate courses taught by industry leaders for undergraduate students. With your generosity, we have donated more than $1,000,000 for Dr. Benson's cutting-edge research at Northwestern, clinical trials, the Harold E. Eisenberg GI Cancer Tissue Bank, and have become one of the largest foundations dedicated to fi ghting GI Cancers. We also must thank the Foundation's exceptional Executive Board and Associate Boards, Ashley Suo our Administrative Coordinator, and Katie Hurley Wales our extraordinary Executive Director. Their hard work and dedication are unending. This Foundation continues to honor the memory of Harold Eisenberg, but it is a testament to this real estate community. To you, we express our extreme gratitude. The Eisenberg Family A Word from our Executive Director Dear Friends, How do your gifts make a difference? Please understand that your presence tonight makes our mission a reality. The annual dinner is our single most important fundraising event. Because of your participation, we can fund essential cancer research and provide incredible opportunities to students. Did you know that in 2013 we completed a one million dollar commitment to funding gastrointestinal cancer research at the Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University? Did you know that almost 100% of eligible cancer patients donate tumor tissue to the trials that we fund? Did you know that since 2008 we have collected almost 18,000 colorectal cancer tissue samples, any of which could hold a key to fi nding a cure? Did you know that each year we impact thousands of real estate students by providing them with scholarships, mentorships, and participation in our unique programs like Career Day and the Real Estate Challenge? Tonight would not be possible without our 2014 Dinner Committee members, especially our dinner co-chairs, Savas Er and Adam Moschin. Our impact would not be possible without the continued generosity of kindhearted individuals like all of you. The foundation would not exist without the Eisenberg family. They are the heart and soul of this organization, which exists to honor the legacy of Hal Eisenberg who lost his brief battle with cancer sixteen years ago. To all of you, on behalf of the entire foundation, I want to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation. You inspire me daily. Sincerely, Katie Hurley Wales Executive Director
