6 Dear Friends, The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation was created by some of Harold's closest friends and colleagues in January 1999 shortly after he died very suddenly of liver cancer. In 1999, we began with a goal of giving away scholarships to students wishing to pursue careers in real estate, the profession Harold loved. Seventeen years later, we have awarded over $250,000 in scholarships to more than 50 students. In 1999, we talked about giving young people interested in real estate the opportunity to learn through face-to-face interactions with leading professionals. Since then, we have scheduled 1,100 days of mentorship, developed a real estate competition, organized nine Career Day events, and offered accredited university courses taught by industry leaders. We more recently introduced the Career Counseling program and are excited to kick off the first annual Scholar Program. In 1999, we began talking to Dr. Benson at Northwestern University about how we could support his world-renowned research to fight gastrointestinal cancers. Recently, we completed a $1,000,000 pledge to Northwestern used for cutting-edge research and to fund the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation Tissue Bank, one of the largest colorectal cancer tissue repositories in the United States. All of this has been achieved and made possible because of our exceptional Executive and Associate Boards, and our outstanding team of staff members led by the Foundation's Executive Director, Katie Hurley Wales. And you. Your support has been extraordinary. You donate necessary funds as well as countless hours to this Foundation. We appreciate all you have done to help us touch peoples' lives in important and meaningful ways and look forward to many more years working together with you. With extreme gratitude, The Eisenberg Family A Word from the Eisenberg Family WHO WE ARE Getting to Know the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation
